escaping the college routine

so back in august this year (2023) we had a looong weekend coming up in the middle of the month and this was our last semester here in manipal all of had already went to goa, gokarna and most of the places nearby manipal so kochi felt a better place to go for the long weekend.

we started off by booking the hotel almost 2 days before our arrival got it for cheap luckily (₹2k/night for one person) and booked train tickets too it was a 8hr long overnight journey

getting used to the kochi vibe

i went with a group of four friends all of us had a different personalities, it was kinda hard to deal with each other but got used to it lol.

saw a lot of vendors selling lottery tickets (apparently they are being organised by the government), we started off the day by renting out two bikes (RE bullet 350cc 🏍️) and got them for around 1200/day it's a struggle to go to places in kochi without a car or bike.

ferry//food

ferry rides were so cool for some reason for me lol the government ferries cost around ₹20/person from one island to another.

food became an issue for me as i was the only non-vegetarian in the whole group so it was really hard for find a good veg restaurant but somehow we managed.

fort kochi

you might be wondering if fort kochi is an actual fort but no it was a fishing village in the Kingdom of Kochi in pre-colonial Kerala it was also It was a bastion of the Portuguese and a symbol of the strategic alliance between the Maharaja of Kochi and the Kingdom of Portugal.

but modernised fort kochi has a really great vibe which you'd be craving for its aesthetics and architecture the cafes and hotels have a really great architecture i felt like i was in some third world European country at a point.

jew town

it felt like i was in an artist's canvas, jew town is practically an artist's town.

it is lined up with interesting boutique shops selling arts, crafts, antiques, spices, fragrances and heritage architecture, perfect for your instagram worthy pictures.

beaches

we just went to one beach (puthenthodu) which was on our way from fort kochi to the main kochi where we were living, pretty sunset and good vibes something very similar to udupi beaches.

concluding

overall kochi is a pretty chill and cozy place to vibe and relax you can cover the whole kochi in 3 days max.

imported from the deck and tweet.

cheers see y'all in the next one,

hope you have a wonderful week ahead :)
regards

aditya kolte.
